ECS Building Controls Engineer


To be eligible for an ECS Building Controls Engineer card, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • a) Have successfully completed an Approved Apprenticeship
    – or –
  • b) Have obtained an NVQ Level 3 in electrical installation work (or approved equivalent)
    – or –
  • c) Hold the City and Guilds 2360 Part One and Two, or City and Guilds 2351 or City and Guilds 2330 Levels 2 and 3 Or Approved Equivalent -plus- have successfully passed the Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) test
    – and –
  • have the appropriate practical training, by having completed the following 4 modules of the Building Controls Training scheme (Introduction to HVAC & Building Technology; Measuring Technology; Control Technology & Hydraulics)
    – and –
  • Have had two years experience working as an electrician/panel wireman/electrical maintenance engineer, subsequent to the satisfactory completion of training and immediately prior to the application for this occupational discipline
    and
  • Hold a current (up-to-date) Health & Safety Certificate or recognised H&S qualification. For details visit the ECS H&S test information area.
