ECS Datacomms Technician


To be eligible for an ECS Datacomms Technician card, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold ‘Advanced Datacomms Specialist’ card plus 3 years experience
  • Be at min. 27 years old
  • Must have supervisory experience
  • Have knowledge of emerging technologies
  • Be capable of designing network modifications
  • Know the most effective and economical way to do the job
  • Know how to apply EAWR 1989, 22-29 & 31
  • Know the IEE Wiring Regulations necessary for data cabling industry
  • Know the Construction Industry Regulations
    – and –
  • Have passed the S/NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Installing and inspecting Structured Cabling Systems
    – and –
  • Hold a current (up-to-date) Health & Safety Certificate or recognised H&S qualification. For details visit the ECS H&S test information area.
