Fast track application
In a hurry to get your
ECS card?
About the ECS fast-track service
We operate a fast-track service, which allows ECS card applicants to attend our Sidcup office in order to obtain a card on the same day. All candidates are pre-booked on this service and it is necessary to phone in advance to make an appointment.
Candidates who would like to avail of this service but who do not hold an approved Health and Safety Certificate will be required to sit (and pass) the ECS Health & Safety assessment on the same day.
All fast-track cards will be ready between 3.00 & 4.00 pm on the appointment day.
What is required?
In order for us to award an ECS card via the fast-track service, the following must take place:
- The candidate will be required to sit and pass the ECS Health & Safety teston the day of the appointment, unless they should already hold an up-to-date approved Health & Safety qualification, in which case they must bring a copy of their H&S Certificate on the day of the appointment along with the other necessary paperwork, see below, Paperwork and Evidence ...
- Applicants must bring to their appointment all the necessary completed paperwork and evidence documents as outlined below, under the heading Paperwork and Evidence ...
- Applicants will be required to pay the card and service fees outlined below, under the heading - Cost of this service - in advance or on the day of the appointment; please confirm the total charge and payment method in advance when making a booking.
How to apply
To pre-book an appointment, telephone the ECS office on: 0844 847 5098. Please note that fast track assessments are currently only available on Wednesdays.
Appointments (and ECS assessment bookings where applicable) will be accepted and confirmed in writing.
Paperwork and evidence: the applicant’s responsibility
On the day of the appointment (consists of the ECS Health & Safety assessment and fast-track card issue on successful completion) the operative will be required to bring their documentation in person and it will be the individual’s responsibility to ensure the correct documentation is provided as the JIB will only issue an ECS Card commensurate with the operative’s grade. Grading Appeals follow the usual process. (No refunds can be issued)
The following are required:
- Individuals should download and complete the application form for an ECS Card from the ECScard website and bring this to the appointment.
- Those who require an ECS Health & Safety assessment should additionally download and complete the booking form for a Health and Safety assessment from the JIB website, publications section
- Applicants must also bring copies of all work and training evidence documents, including their Apprenticeship Deeds, copies of certificates and any additional supporting evidence confirming their competence in the discipline they are applying for. (e.g. references) See checklist below.
- A single passport-sized photograph
The applications will then be checked and verified at the Sidcup office and a decision will be made as to the type and/or grade ECS Card that can be awarded on the day.
The level of ECS Card that is awarded will depend on the qualifications and evidence that has been supplied as set out in our Grading Definitions document which can be downloaded from the publications section of the JIB website
