Having Trouble with ECS Online Systems?

If you are having trouble accessing our online services, there are a number of things that need to be correct on your computer or internet device.
Our online systems provide a convenient way to access your account information, apply for ECS cards for your staff or simply validate who is working for you. However, we need our systems to be secure and reliable and like any IT system there are times that security updates are necessary or system configurations have to be correctly set to access them.
It is frustrating when things do not operate as you expect them to. The information below should, hopefully, help with some of the basic issues you may find and give you an initial direction to help sort things out if they have gone wrong.

Internet Connection

It may sound obvious, but you must have a working internet connection. Believe it or not we do get people ring us up and say they cannot access our online services as they do not have a working internet connection.
This is one thing we cannot help with.
If you cannot get to your favourite internet sites you will need to talk to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or your IT support desk. Once you have a working internet connection please try to access our online systems again.

IT Supported Systems

Please make sure that you are using the most up to date versions of software for your computer operating system, your web browser and your security scanning. This is something that you will have to talk to whoever provides you with your IT support. This is basic good practice for any computer for your own security and convenience.
There is advice on the systems we support in the IT Supported Systems Document.

Forgotten Password

If you have forgotten your password there is a link under the ‘Sign In’ button to follow.
The JIB / ECS do not manage your password and so please follow the link that is on the sign in screen.

ECS Card website pages are not displaying correctly

If you can log in to our systems but the pages are not displaying correctly then you may need to clear you Internet Cache and/ or your cookies.

Clearing your Cache

In order to speed up web browsing, web browsers are designed to download web pages and store them locally on your computer. This is known as your internet or browser ‘cache’.
Although using an Internet cache makes web browser faster, sometimes it is necessary to overrule the Internet cache if the webpage/s you are looking at have been updated or has had some security update applied to them recently.
You my need to check the instructions for the web browser that you were using. Typically pressing “ctrl + F5” for Windows or “Cmd + R” for Mac will clear the browser cache.

Clearing your Cookies

Using cookies while you surf the Internet helps you with signing into web sites and makes your browsing experience more personal.
Clearing cookies in your web browser can solve issues with our online systems access.
To clear cookies in your web browser you will need to go into the browser settings. Each web browser is different and therefore you will need to refer to the specific instructions for the web browser you are using. A web search using your favourite search engine, such as Ecosia or Google, should give you the information that you need to clear your web browser cookies.

If having cleared your cache and cookies you are still having a problem with the way online systems are working please check with your venue manager or primary system user that your permissions have been set up correctly.
