Academically Qualified Person (AQP) ECS occupation provides registration for operatives and managers who have further education or Degree electrotechnical engineering qualifications that do not fit the standard industry recognised electrotechnical occupations.

The card indicates the particular specialism and qualification of the cardholder. 

The categories available for the Academically Qualified Person (AQP) ECS card are: 

  • Electrical Engineer (Power)
  • Electrical Engineer (Control)
  • Electrical Engineer (Instrumentation)
  • Electrical Engineer (Communications)
  • Electrical Engineer (Systems)
  • Electrical Engineer (Electronics)
  • Electrical Engineer (Building Services)
  • Electrical Engineer (Environmental)
  • Electrical Engineer (Electrotechnical)*

Eligibility and requirements

To be eligible for an ECS Academically Qualified Person (AQP) card, applicants must:

1. Hold a UK electrical engineering or electrotechnical degree or higher, or a UK further education qualification at level 4 or 5 (such as an HND or HNC) in an electrotechnical discipline
* Or for the Academically Qualified - Electrical Engineer (Electrotechnical) an ECCTIS Electrotechnical Skills Statement at level 4 or above in an electrotechnical discipline
