Academically Qualified Person (AQP) ECS occupation provides registration for operatives and managers who have further education or Degree electrotechnical engineering qualifications that do not fit the standard industry recognised electrotechnical occupations.

The card indicates the particular specialism and qualification of the cardholder. 

The categories available for the Academically Qualified Person (AQP) ECS card are: 

  • Electrical Engineer (Power)
  • Electrical Engineer (Control)
  • Electrical Engineer (Instrumentation)
  • Electrical Engineer (Communications)
  • Electrical Engineer (Systems)
  • Electrical Engineer (Broadcasting)
  • Electrical Engineer (Electronics)

Eligibility and requirements

To be eligible for an ECS Academically Qualified Person (AQP) card, applicants must:

1. Hold an electrical engineering Degree or a further education qualification at level 4 or 5 (such as an HND or HNC) in an electrotechnical discipline
