18th Edition Training and Assessment guidance

BS7671:2018 Training

The 18th Edition qualification recognised by the ECS and JIB is:

Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671:2018

To achieve this qualification, you might want to consider the best training and assessment approach for you based on your personal situation and factors such as previous Wiring Regulations knowledge.

Some electricians will prefer a classroom-based training session. These can range from 1 to 5 days in length. Alternatively, you may prefer to study at your own pace using your own material or an online training package and then take the examination, without the associated training course.

Online training allows you to learn at your own speed and review the material as often as you would like to. There are a variety of free online training videos and internet articles that may provide the training that you need before taking an exam.

In all cases, you will need to make sure that the training is relevant to your needs and from a reliable source.

To find a college or training provider that is offering the BS7671:2018 qualification, the following awarding organisations can tell you who in your area is registered to offer the qualification and assessment:

There are several organisations that offer online training. We are aware of the following providers, but this list is not exclusive:

Assessment Only availability

An assessment only option for the BS7671:2018 qualification is widely available from training providers registered with the awarding organisations above.

The BS7671 exam only option is available at the JIB offices in Swanley Kent and other locations across the country provided by Thompson Training. For more information and to book your exam please see www.thompsontrainingltd.com or contact 01284 764 079
