JIB Grading is used to identify and determine an operative’s position and status within the electrotechnical industry. The job role requirements, duties and responsibilities determine the grade level as set out in the JIB Handbook.
Each grade has a requirement for both qualifications and experience for the operative to have achieved for their JIB grading to be awarded. An employer endorsement is required when making an application to be graded.
For an ECS cardholder working for a JIB member company, the JIB Grade provides terms and conditions of employment through the nationally recognised collective agreement between the industry employers and employees, facilitated by the JIB and SJIB. The agreement includes pay rates, travel/subsistence payments, health care and other employment benefits.
