Canary Wharf Group Showcases CSCS Smart Check

03 December 24

Earlier this year, Unite organised an event at Canary Wharf, to showcase the measures in place to ensure operatives attending projects have the correct CSCS card for their trade. The event also advised supervisors and managers on the best way to check workers’ accreditation.

The Canary Wharf Group chose CSCS Smart Check to ensure that only professionals with correct and legitimate cards gain access to the 23-acre Wood Wharf development. The system has streamlined access procedures and improved site safety.

CSCS Smart Check was developed by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Alliance which includes ECS. It provides proof of workers’ qualifications and training and ensures that only those with the right card, for the required role, gain site access. The platform can verify cards from any of the 38 CSCS partner schemes and covers 2.1 million valid cardholders. It can also be integrated into existing site access and card checking systems.

CSCS Smart Check creates a safe working environment and gives peace of mind to developers looking to ensure they have fully trained, competent staff on their sites, in line with the Building Safety Act 2022. It has been successful in setting high standards for industry, reducing the risks of accidents and decreasing the need for reworks on projects of all sizes. It is available as an API, mobile app and via CSCSSmartCheck.co.uk. Professionals holding ECS cards, can also use the app to present their card in digital format to gain access to site.

In addition to CSCS Smart Check, ECS Check is also available to verify and present ECS cards - find out more here
