ECS Steering Committee approves 2 additional courses

The ECS Steering Committee approved the following qualification courses on 2 July 2026:

•    LCL Safe isolation Procedure Training Course
•    FireQual Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Emergency Lighting Systems to BS5266-1:2025 (610/3844/1)

LCL Safe Isolation Procedure Training Course

The LCL Safe Isolation Procedure Training Course has been approved as a recognised requirement for the ECS Building Controls Technician (Commissioning) card (white with gold stripe). 

This course is designed for persons working with electrical installations and sets out best practice in ensuring that they are safe prior to carrying out work. Completion of this course will help reduce the risk of accidents on site as well as supporting personal career development. 

FireQual Level 3 Award  

FireQual Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Emergency Lighting Systems to BS5266-1:2025 (610/3844/1) has been approved as a recognised CPD route. It can be added to the back of ECS cards as a recognised CPD qualification for Electricians and Fire & Emergency Systems (FESS) Technicians. 

This course has been designed to ensure that technicians have the knowledge required to safely and effectively design, test, maintain and rectify faults within emergency lighting systems. This is critical to keeping people and buildings safe.

Completion of these qualifications will allow individuals to demonstrate knowledge, competence and skills in their chosen specialism and assist operatives on their ECS card journey. It also reflects the commitment to improve overall competence standards and safety across the entire electrotechnical industry.
