ECS announces AVIXA as a new partner scheme

11 March 22

AVIXA has been approved by the ECS to assess and issue ECS certification for installers and providers of professional audio-visual (AV) technology.
ECS, as a partner of CSCS, covers 175,000 individuals across the electrotechnical industry in the UK and holding an up-to-date ECS card is often a requirement when accessing sites such as those under construction, data centres, public authority sites and infrastructure.
With the massive expansion of AV technology in recent years and growing convergence with IT and other skills, the benefits of holding personnel certification under ECS will continue to grow as does the demand for suitably qualified and competent personnel.
This new Commercial AV Integrator ECS card from AVIXA will allow individuals to prove their identity, qualified status, occupation and relevant CPD, including the relevant AVIXA certifications (CTS, CTS-D and CTS-I). All ECS cards are also required to meet CSCS requirements for health, safety and environmental awareness and electrotechnical safety, assessments for both of which can now be offered through AVIXA.
Ben Barnard, AVIXA Regional Manager for UK and Ireland, explained: “The AVIXA Certified Technology SpecialistTM(CTS) programme demonstrates a general AV knowledge and opens many doors in the industry, while CTS-D demonstrates AV design expertise and CTS-I demonstrates installation expertise. Holding the relevant ECS card for your CTS credential is imperative to ensure clients and employers understand your training and experience whether it is as an installation tech, integrator, designer, or engineer. AVIXA are proud to work with ECS and the industry to raise standards for a safer built environment.”
ECS has worked with a number of partners across the AV industry, most recently, the Institute of Sound Communication and Visual Engineers (ISCVE) and CEDIA, to identify various training and qualification routes. As more organisations and stakeholders look to raise the bar across the AV industry, it is hoped this will allow formation of an industry approved framework and greater client recognition of the valuable skills, knowledge, experience, and behaviours of AV professionals which form the basis for ECS certification.
