The Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) has welcomed a partnership between the Institute of Sound, Communications and Visual Engineers (ISCVE), an accredited partner of ECS, with Production Futures.

ISCVE as an association, are committed to promoting technical excellence, through supporting members with personal development, education and training, ensuring safe practice, advocating for diversity and inclusion, as well as promoting sustainability in the industry and broader community.

ISCVE is a partner association of ECS and can issue ECS cards for both Sound and Audio-Visual (AV) Engineers and is also an accredited ECS assessment centre.

Production Futures is an industry initiative creating opportunities for young people to learn, train, network and develop careers in productions across all aspects of live events, TV, broadcast and AV installation.

This collaboration aims to strengthen industry connections and provide clear career pathways for newcomers in the sound, communications and visual engineering sectors, aligning with work through the ECS Industry Group for AV and Live Events to set out occupational frameworks for assessing competence and potential career paths.

A key highlight of this partnership is that Production Futures has named ISCVE the exclusive signposting partner for ECS AV Engineer cards. These ECS cards are crucial credentials in the sound, communications and visual industry, ensuring recognised standards of competence and safety.

Ros Wigmore, Business Manager for ISCVE says: “We are able to guide newcomers through the process of obtaining these cards, equipping them with the qualifications needed to succeed in the field, encouraging career development and progression, as well as providing a crucial tool for evidencing competency in controlled projects and sites.”

As part of ISCVE’s Early Careers Committee initiatives, this partnership is aligned with its ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals. The collaboration with Production Futures will help bridge the gap between education and industry, offering young talent valuable opportunities to connect with key industry resources and contacts.

Andy Reakes, Director of Growth and Development for JIB and ECS, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the ISCVE partnership with Production Futures. This will play an important role in strengthening industry connections and will help to provide clear career pathways for newcomers in the sound, communications and visual engineering sectors.”
