Industry Working Group Update - Digital Support, Networks and Security

22 April 22

ECS is a leading personnel certification scheme in the UK covering over 175,000 individuals across a range of electrotechnical disciplines. In 2021 the scheme was expanded to include more focus on digital support and development, cyber and network security, and network engineering.

ECS is also a partner of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) recognised and endorsed by government and industry for accessing projects and sites within the built environment such as data centres, NHS Trusts and local authorities, infrastructure projects, as well as more traditional construction projects.

Earlier this year, leading industry employers, trade associations, training providers, awarding organisations and professional institutions from the IT and digital landscape met to discuss how to raise the bar on standards, provide clear structure to industry, promote greater training and qualifications, give the right steer on relevant qualification, certification, and assessment routes for career progression across the different parts of the digital sector.

Input is also being provided from this Digital Industry Working Group to the Department for Education and Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education from the Industry Group on aspects such as the development of T Levels and updated standards.

Thanks go to the likes of British Computer Society/Chartered Institute for IT, City & Guilds, CNet Training, CompTIA, EAL Awards, ECA, J Brand, Microsoft, NG Bailey IT Services, QinetiQ, Uniper Academy and more than 30 other employers, training providers and awarding organisations who, combined, represent more than 60,000 members across 150 countries.

Work is ongoing with Cyber Security specialists to ensure alignment with the UK Cyber Security Council standards. If you would like to be involved in future discussions as part of this Industry Group, please let us know at feedback@ecscard.org.uk to discuss further how you can have your voice heard.
