Jay Parmar, CEO of JIB and ECS, attended UK Construction Week at London’s ExCeL in May to promote the CSCS Alliance - the collective voice of the 38 card schemes that display the CSCS logo covering more than 2 million people working across the built environment.
As the CSCS Alliance Chair, Mr Parmar featured in a panel discussion alongside CSCS Chief Executive Sean Kearns to highlight the role and collaborative nature of the CSCS Alliance as well as the positive impact it has had on the industry, including the development of CSCS Smart Check, the delivery and implementation of which is chaired by Andy Reakes, JIB and ECS Director of Growth and Development.
CSCS Smart Check has been designed to improve the construction industry’s card checking procedures and site safety while also helping tackle fraud in the sector. Organisations and their on-site card checkers now have a quick, easy and secure way of ensuring everyone on site has the right qualifications and training for the job they do. CSCS Smart Check has already checked more than 150,000 cards since launch last year and an update is being developed to integrate this process into existing IT and access control systems for major sites.
All cards displaying the CSCS logo operate with nationally recognised qualifications in place for all occupations and provide assurance that over two million workers across the built environment are trained and qualified for the job they do on site.
