IOSH Exemption

26 June 17

From 01 July 2017, the IOSH Working Safely Certificate gained via the online e-assessment will not be accepted as an ECS Health & Safety Assessment exemption.

It has recently come to our attention that it's possible to take the 'IOSH Working Safely' exam online, without supervision. To maintain the integrity of the exemptions accepted for ECS card applications, an invigilated exam is required for the applicant to demonstrate they have met a minimum level of health, safety and environmental awareness. The JIB has worked with CSCS, who have already suspended the IOSH certificate, on this issue to find the best solution for card applications.

Until 30 June 2017, the JIB will accept ECS applications with the e-learning IOSH Working Safely certificate. This will enable those who have recently completed the online assessment, believing it to be an acceptable ECS exemption, to complete their application. For applications received on or after 01 July 2017, the IOSH Working Safely Certficate gained via an online assessment will NOT be accepted.
