Card information

This card is for those who install, commission, maintain and repair electrical and electronic domestic and commercial products and appliances. The appliances may be brown and white goods, or specialist equipment designed by a manufacturer for a specific purpose. Duties also include the demonstration of appliances to ensure their appropriate use by customers and clients.
 

Apprentices and Trainees

An apprentice card is available for any student undertaking an electrotechnical apprenticeship, including the Electrical, Electronic Product Service and Installation Engineer or Commercial Catering Equipment Technician apprenticeship. The general requirements can be found here

A Trainee card will be available for anyone enrolled on an apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ qualification to end result would be the award of a gold card in the occupation of Electrical Product Service Engineer. 

Industry Placement – T Level

An Industry Placement card is also available for any student on the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Engineering T Level. The Training Provider or College should apply for this card directly for the learner using the ECS online portals which can be accessed free of charge.

Eligibility and requirements

To be eligible for an Electrical Product Engineer gold card, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • an Approved Apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ in Installation and Maintenance of Electrical Products and Equipment, or
  • an Approved Apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ in Electrical or Electronic Product Service and Installation, or
  • an Approved Apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ in Household or Commercial Electrical Products and Equipment (e.g. Commercial Catering Equipment)
  • Or equivalent
