Changes to NICEIC QS application process

Changes to the criteria for NICEIC QS gold cards are being made by the JIB following a new requirement set by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).

This move is in line with a more consistent approach to the issuing of cards across the entire construction sector.

From December 31st 2019, NICEIC registrants will no longer be able to apply for or renew their Gold Card via the experienced route: three successful NICEIC assessments.

All existing NICEIC QS cardholders wishing to hold an ECS gold card in the future will need to be qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

A table listing the specific requirements based on when you completed your training is available here.

For those without the recognised qualification a Experienced Worker Assessment route to Gold Card is available based on existing skills and experience.

More information on this process is available here.

So what does this mean for me?

From December 31st, NICEIC will no longer be able to process ECS Gold Card requests. For existing ECS Gold Card holders who applied via the NICEIC – your card will remain valid until its expiry date.

To comply with the new scheme qualification requirements a new ECS QS card has been developed for a company qualifying supervisor registered with a certification scheme.

The new ECS QS card is available to a company qualifying supervisor as a related discipline card and may be added as an additional occupation to an existing ECS gold card or black managers card for cardholders that have met the scheme requirements for the ECS card that they hold.

Please see the ECS QS card web page for more information.
