Northern Ireland Water registers for ECS Check – Licence to Practise

ECS was pleased to see further uptake for ECS Check in Northern Ireland in late 2021 and early 2022 and there are now more than 1,200 organisations registered on the system UK-wide.

2021 Annual Review showcases crucial role of ECS in upskilling the industry

The ECS has released its 2021 Annual Review. Around 175,000 electrotechnical workers are proud to hold an ECS card, and 2021 was a positive year for ECS as it continued its work with other industry organisations to launch vital services and initiatives to the electrotechnical sector and critically enhance experiences for its valued card holders.

New Experienced Worker Assessment

A new assessment process to recognise existing skills and experience has been launched by the electrotechnical industry. 
The ‘Experienced Worker Assessment’ (EWA) accredits occupational competence for people who have been working as an electrician for typically over five years but haven’t been able to complete an apprenticeship or achieve an equivalent Level 3 vocational qualification.

FESS Operative Card – How do I book a FESS Assessment? 


There are four sector disciplines recognised:

  • Fire 

  • Fire and Emergency Lighting 

  • Security 

  • Fire and Security 

To set up an online assessment to be taken remotely, please call 01322 661622. 

If you are an Employer and you are already using the Employer Portal, you can activate these FESS Assessments on your account by emailing guidance.portal@ecscard.org.uk. Please let us know your JIB or Employer Portal number if known, and which assessments are relevant to your workforce.

ECS Check system now available in Northern Ireland
 
The Electrotechnical Certification Scheme’s ECS Check system is now operational and approved as a pilot that meets the Licence to Practise (LtP) requirements on government public sector construction contracts in Northern Ireland.
